WGSN Seminar - Visual Merchandising, Communication & Retail Design
By Chandrika Singh, Jan 29 2010 10:46AM

WGSN Seminar - Visual Merchandising, Communication & Retail Design Another interesting presetation by WGSN on global retail trends (design/VM etc). The story about the emotional connect with customers continued. The discussion that followed threw up some interesting ideas.

An engaging thought - VM is essentially the ability to persuade the customer to purchase something that he/she doesn't really expect to buy. A thought that almost every panelist agreed on - 'Indian-ness' is a strong retail design comcept that is going to make waves around the world. Examples were given of how the essential choas of the Indian landscape can be (and is being) captured as an alternative to the traditonal European minimalism.

An India home interiors brand like Zeba has successfully implemented this in their stores overseas - all the colour/chaos/drama and a certain disorder in order that is so typically Indian.

And I'm ready to run...more as the day goes on...
